Lauren Burk
Jay is right, it doesn’t happen in Auburn. When it does, when you hear that it has, you can’t remember your name for a second and you forget what it is you’re exactly workin’ towards in life. Or at least I do. You go out to eat, and you stare at everybody. You’re not suspicious, you’re appreciating them. You want them to still be here tomorrow. The pretty girls, the white hats, the Spectrum woman, the hipsters, the kids at the park, even the awkward Bama fans.
It seems a lot of people appreciated Lauren Burk. With looks like that, it’s easy to. But regardless, my God, it’s not supposed to happen here, not like that, it’s not. She was found not far from my house, right down the road.
It’ll be hard to enjoy these blue skies or drive under the magnolias on College or think much about spring practice for a few days, without feeling kinda guilty at least. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Burk family — and now, my Lord, for the Carson family too — and for swift justice.

Saw the first reports of this via an email from a friend of our family. Just couldn’t believe it then, still can’t now.
What is this world coming to?
To Lauren’s family, if you read this, know that we, members of the Auburn family, mourn with you in your loss.
To the scum that perpetrated this, to quote Bob Dylan, “And I hope that you die/ And your death it comes soon…” (Masters of War)
I realize the quote is about something else, but I think it fits the way a lot of us feel about senseless deaths like this.

I disagree with wishing death and punishment as a means to help grieving. This is where recovery stops in my view.
I am NOT condoning the actions of the murderer, but if there was no sex involved we would think differently. If the murderer was drunk beyond reasoning and he happened to kill her in a traffic accident, would we ever think differently, but at least there was no sex involved, correct?. We have a huge problem with sex and hypocrisy in America.

No I am not saying that this scumbags’ death will help in the grief the family and friends are suffering, but, this person ( and I use that term loosely) shot a young girl and killed her. HE DESERVES TO DIE. Period. End of story.
Whether he raped her or not is of no consequence. This person killed someone that was innocent.
Sorry, that is just my opinion.
