IPJ: The Plainsman reviews “Catcher in the Rye,” 1962

Rubbing elbows with Old Spice and cigarette and Elvis movie ads and sexy photos, I thought this review was really something. A bit dated - the book came out in ‘51 (but apparently the early ’60s was when it really started causing a ruckus) - but kinda freakin’ awesome. Remember — 1962.

It’s Pronounced JORDAN: Hare Stadium

Rare shot of Jordan-Hare Stadium, changing clothes. On Oct. 6, 1973, at the Ole Miss game, Cliff Hare Stadium officially became Jordan-Hare stadium, making Ralph “Shug” Jordan the first ever active coach to have his team’s home stadium named in his honor. Auburn won, 14-7. Photo by L. Parker.

It’s Pronounced JORDAN: Black History

The first Auburn touchdown (a kick-off return) scored by a black player, James Owens, against Florida in Gainesville, Halloween, 1970. Owens integrated the Auburn football team in 1969, but, per rules then established for freshmen, did not compete with the varsity until the 1970 season.
Auburn won this game 63-14, seriously.
